| Abstract | It has been the purpose of this discussion to review critically the physiologic considerations and clinical evidence regarding the use of Tris buffer in the treatment of acid-base disorders. It is concluded that there is little current evidence, theoretical, experimental, or clinical, to support the view that Tris has a significant therapeutic role. Some possible exceptions to this general conclusion are considered. |
